Ralph Waldo Emerson said that many, many years ago, my name is Vincent Del Franco. I'm the founder and CEO of lifetime financial. And I want to welcome you to the lifetime financial freedom fighters podcast. Today. We want to talk about how to create an inspiring vision board. Why are visual boards so powerful? You see when you face setbacks, your vision board will be there to motivate you all over again. See if you want the world to conspire with you. You need to create clarity on what you want. A vision board is a powerful tool for creating clarity, inspiration, and insight. Simply put a vision board is a collage of images that reflect your dreams, your habits, your goals, and your ideal life. Speaker 1 00:01:57 The power in creating a vision board is the process. In other words, it's putting all the things together that you would like to display on a board so that you could look at it and allow it to inspire you. It's real simple. All you have to do is go to one of the, like an office max or a staples, and you pick up a basically cardboard. And what you do is you go ahead and cut out pictures from magazines. See, I use magazines, I'll go online and find pictures that I want to display on my vision board. And I like to use all different types of texts because I want, I want the vision board to look very, very interesting. Get, I want to put as much information on there as I possibly can to reflect what it is that I would like to accomplish. Speaker 1 00:02:53 I also like to be creative and I'll give you some examples of that as I go. The one thing you want to make sure that you do is that you're in the right frame of mind. In other words, think about what it is that you really truly would like to have happen in your life. Now, one thing you don't want to do is limit yourself. So go out there and find the things that inspire you. And sometimes you'd be surprised at what you can accomplish just by putting them down on your vision board. And I'll give you a couple of examples of that as we go, let's talk first about pictures and where you get those images. Where's the best place to look. What I did is for a while throughout the year, I collect magazines and like, um, Rob report, uh, different magazines that I would find. Speaker 1 00:03:52 What I like about those magazines is the font, the different type of fonts that they use. And I would just cut it out. And I paste in the fact that I keep, uh, an envelope filled, filled with a maritime. I come across something interesting. I'll go ahead and cut it out. I'll give you an example of one time. I had this big poster and at the very top of the poster, he said, become a champion. It lasts a lifetime. So when I made my vision board, that was the center piece. And then what I would do is I started work down from there, but I would cut out pictures of homes that I would love to own vehicles, cabins. I'd go ahead and take pictures online or else I'd pull them off of a vacation magazine of Italy, France, England, different places that I wanted to visit Germany, Austria, Australia, and so on. Also. So those, so those vacations where you'd like to live, I remember putting on a Felipe protect watch that I would love to have. In fact, I'd love to get both two of them, one for each of my boys when I pass on so that I could pass it onto them. And hopefully they pass it onto their children, Speaker 1 00:05:11 Even very simple things. I know that I wanted one of these, um, mixers. You don't one of those table mixers and I wanted one so bad, but they were only a couple of hundred bucks. When I first started doing vision boards. It didn't matter. I cut it out and I put it in. I taped it in there and before he know what I, I have one I've had one for years, I wanted to go to Italy really, really bad. So one day I took and cut out a bunch of pictures of Italy, of Rome, Florence, Venice, Verona, different places around Italy that I wanted to visit. I put them in a book I wanted to visit the Colosseum. I wanted to see David in Florence. So all of these different things I put in my vision board Speaker 2 00:05:56 And, and was back, gosh, Speaker 1 00:05:58 Back in the, uh, eighties. So I, I would look through the vision board from time to time. And actually, I didn't know, it was, I didn't even actually know that they had quote-unquote vision boards. I just cut those pictures up because I wanted to see so bad. And they taped them in this spiral binder that I had. Well, I moved from one location to another. I put the book away and you know, it disappeared. I wa I wound up going to Italy in 1988, Speaker 2 00:06:34 88, Speaker 1 00:06:35 89. I ended up in Italy and I went to all those different places that I wanted to visit. And, you know, I really forgot about the vision board or taking those pictures and putting them in that spiral Speaker 2 00:06:47 Grinder. Speaker 1 00:06:50 When I moved again, I was going through my stuff and there was low and behold, there was the, and I may still have it somewhere. I have to take a look. So these things are very, very powerful. It's amazing. I know, I remember my wife and I, we had, uh, we had built our dream home in Chandler Speaker 1 00:07:11 And it was beautiful. You know, we wanted to split floor plan. We wanted a nice yard pool for me. I wanted to have a basement really bad with a workout room. And my wife wanted to have her own, um, arts and crafts room. And then I had a big room for the boys to, you know, where they could play pool or they could play foosball, or they could play video games on their TV. We had dark board, all of that. In other words, those were the types of things that we put down on our, our vision board, our dream board, and lo and behold, exactly what we put down. We got, it was it's crazy. I also took, uh, you know, I found pictures of stacks of money, and I put that on my vision board. I also found an Aladdin's lamp and he said, your wish is my command. And what I did was I went ahead and I made copies of that lamp. And I put those words up above it. And I put that all along the bottom of my vision board. Speaker 2 00:08:11 And Speaker 1 00:08:11 So my point is to get creative. I saw a magazine one time, I forget what the name of the magazine was. I'm not sure if it was for the forest magazine or not, but it had all of the, yeah, I think it was Forbes. It had all of the top income earners in the world, right. Or the top 100, uh, billionaires or millionaires or whatever it was. And I took that cover. I made a copy of it. I cut the faces out and I put my face in there and my boys' faces in there. Speaker 2 00:08:42 Let me see. Speaker 1 00:08:43 So get creative. I fun. Oh, I found this other picture where there was a guy on it with a Cape on and I cut his head off and put my head down there. And I put that on the picture. I also really love to do presentations in front of a lot of people. So I had, I had a picture of, of, of, uh, of a lot of people in an auditorium and me and a picture would be presented to them. Let me see what else. Oh, I had, uh, I had, uh, I had this one guy that was like, uh, uh, w in really good shape. He looked like a weightlifter bodybuilder, but not, you know, not one of those muscle bound, but just really slim and trim. And, uh, just a really outstanding physique. I just cut his head off and put my head on it so that I could look at that. Speaker 1 00:09:33 And so my point is this is to get creative, have fun with it. And then, you know, put, put great quotations and, um, notes and different things that will inspire you, fire you up, get you excited. And the thing is, is you want to have like that big picture feeling another, Oh, by the way, another good place to find great pictures and things is Pinterest. You may want to check that out as well. Okay. So these are some of the things that you can do that could get you started. You see, you may want to choose habits, thoughts, feelings, and experiences that you want to put in for your vision board, have fun with the process, you know, find images that inspire your mind and help you to see what compelling, what a compelling future could look like for you. Explore the art of possible, a possibility and a so don't allow the Liberty limiting beliefs to come in and get in your way. So you use these type of questions. Who do I want to be? What do I want to experience? What do I want to create To help create clarity around your future life and your future self focus on the following categories, mind, body emotions, career finance relationships, and having fun. You know, for me, always number one was family. Number two, I love to travel. Number three. I love books. If you came to my home, you see my library in my office. I have a library, Speaker 3 00:11:31 Adios videos. Speaker 1 00:11:35 So those are just examples of categories, but they can help walk you through different areas of your life and explore what you want for your life. Speaker 1 00:11:49 See a, let me tell you, it's especially helpful to also look for people that you admire that really personify some of the attributes and characteristics that you want to demonstrate and have it be more part of your life. I see what if you could innovate like Edison or think like DaVinci or solve problems like a, like a Tony Robbins or someone like that she did. But the thing is to remember is they don't have to be famous people. They just need to be meaningful for you. Another thing that's great and smart to do is pick out little quotes. Like the one I started with, you know, I usually put the journey of a thousand. Uh, the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. One of my favorite all time quotes is shoot for the moon, because even if you miss you'll land among the stars, take the coins from your person, invest in your mind, and your mind will fill your purse with coins. Speaker 1 00:13:01 The power of imagination makes us infinite. There's so many good quotes out there that you can take, and you can just plaster on your vision board. And I'll tell you what, you can go online and find some other great ideas on how to, you know, put together a vision board. In fact, they even have online vision boards. One of the things that I did with my vision board is once I had it all finished and all set up, I would take a photo of the vision board so that I can carry with me all the time. And in fact, what I also did was I took a nice photo of it. And then I laminated that photo and I would carry that with me all the time. I love it there, there's not a year that goes by where I don't do set goal, setting, vision boarding and things of that nature. Okay. I, I always want to stay ahead, Create affirmations for your vision page. All you remembered this, you are what you think about most. You can use affirmations to shape your thoughts, both conscious and subconscious, create some affirmations that are meaningful to you. Here's some examples. All my actions support my dreams. I am bigger than my challenges. I am enough. I am feeling exhilarated, agile and alive. Speaker 1 00:14:35 I'm learning. I'm on message. I'm resourceful. I'm respectful. I'm amazing. I focused on what I can control and let the rest go. I love having the willpower and perseverance to overcome all obstacles. Nothing can stop me. I am fired up. Those are some great things to put in there. I also like to take photos of books like, uh, a collection of books or, or books that I want to read out. Just take a picture and put it on the vision board as well. Anything that you can do that can actually help you? What are you going to need to create the vision board? Like I said, you're going to need to go get one of those cardboard. I forget what they call. It's like a cardboard, a stand that you would get. And then you want to get a stick of glue, a nice pair of scissors and have a bunch of magazines or go online and print out some pictures that you'd like to put on your vision, board quotes and different things like that. They also have some great examples online, but they also have online vision board. And you could Speaker 3 00:15:42 You as well. So Speaker 1 00:15:47 We see. So when it comes to affirmations, remember three keys to success, concise, positive words, visualization, seed them in your mind's eye and then feeling, feel the affirmations in your body as if it were already true trade. Your thoughts for the ideas that put fire your belly and where you feel the excitement to be alive, race through your veins, test your page. In other words, check it out, make your vision page, a living, breathing thing, adapted and updated as you glean clarity on what you really want. And if it's not working for you, change it Speaker 3 00:16:38 Always Speaker 1 00:16:38 Remember even when the rocket ship took off to the moon, you know, they had mission controlled. That always, that that was a constant communication and constantly course correcting. And you'll have to do the same thing, especially with vision boarding, goal setting and so on. Remember, this is your vision boards. See it, feel it, but most importantly, do it and dream big.
